packing and more packing

We had a great weekend with my sister A. We went to Target, and got the rest of the items we needed for our trip. We got toiletries, and lots of snacks. We also got a little Winnie the Pooh, very soft and snuggly, to match the blanket. I'm hoping the baby can have it in his/her crib. Right now, our luggage is all food and baby stuff. Tomorrow, I'm going to have to make room to cram in our clothes!

I spent all day today packing. It's a good thing I started early, because it took a lot longer than I had hoped. I started out putting everything into 1 duffel bag, then 2 small suitcases, and then finally, the duffel and 1 small suitcase turned out to be the right combination. There was a lot of packing and unpacking and repacking! I'll be able to finish tomorrow.

We meet our baby 1 week from today! I can't believe it! We are so excited, and so grateful to God!

Packing is a skill of mine, but I still hated all the prep for Trip 1. Dunno if this'll help much, but you'll need a little less of nearly everything than you think. Between wearing layers (so the topmost clothes can be reused a few times) and the washing machine that your apartment has, you can make a few clothes stretch the whole week pretty easy. We found that heavier sweaters are actually not nearly as practical as lighter, looser ones that could be worn over something else. But be sure to pack a pair of thermals or some other kind of undergarment for your legs! And we had read that you shouldn't bring jeans. Pay no attention - everyone here wears jeans! Be sure to avoid my biggest mistake - bring a hat that'll keep your ears warm!

Morning Ana! Glad to hear you had a great weekend w/ your sis. The clock is definitely ticking now! I'm getting so excited for you, so I can only imagine how you must feel. Good luck with the rest of the packing you have to do. Rob's advice sounds great!

How exciting! One more tip that I try to follow is: once you think you have everything you need, remove half, and you'll be fine.... O.K., so I generally only remove about one third, but it still lightens the load. Don't forget things to read in the car, etc. You'll do a lot of waiting around. Have a great trip!
