moscow - trip 3 - day 3

We were not able to pick up Eli today. We are very disappointed. We have already been here 2 days, and have not seen him yet. We miss him so much. Hopefully, we will be able to pick him up tomorrow.

This morning, Katia and Anton picked us up at 9:00am, and we went to the office first, where I. greeted us warmly. She made copies of our passports for the police registration, and R gave her the 1800 rubles to give to the courier later today. Then we got the bag that Lisa had left for us (thanks again!!!), and we were on our way.

We drove to Krasnogorsk to the courthouse. Traffic was not bad, and it only took about an hour. We both thanked God for the rain that was falling. It really helped reduce the fumes on the drive. When we arrived at the courthouse, we waited in the lobby while Katia went and talked to the judge's secretary. After about 15 minutes, she returned with bad news. Our court decision had been printed, but it had not been stamped and signed, so she could not give us the copies we needed. Of course, one of those copies is for the orphanage director, so that he can be released. She said the copies will be ready for us tomorrow morning.

We are so disappointed, but I was not surprised, because paperwork issues seem to be so common. Because our court date was on a Wed., our 10 days were not over until today.

There was a huge grocery store right near the courthouse, so we decided to go there since we had time. We got groceries for ourselves, as well as the 2 cakes to take to the orphanage tomorrow.

After, we drove back to the office, and filled out all the paperwork needed for the Embassy. Normally, we would have done that later in the week, but Katia had the great idea of taking care of it now, before we have Eli with us. We were happy to at least have accomplished that today.

When the Embassy paperwork was done, Katia asked if we wanted to do any sightseeing, since we had the whole afternoon free, but I wasn't feeling all that well, so we decided to come back to the apartment and just rest this afternoon. We'll take a nap, so we can be well rested for Eli!

Please pray that all paperwork issues will be resolved and that we'll be able to take him tomorrow.

Oh, Ana...I am so, so sorry to hear this. I know you were really looking forward to picking up Eli today and starting your first day as a family. I'm disappointed for all of you and will definitely pray for no issues tomorrow. I hope you feel better soon. (hopefully it's just stress??)

Also, please thank Katia for her help with the list. I'm going to scan it in today & send a copy to Lena, the Russian woman who translated our thank you cards for trip 1 & the Russian menu. We're hoping she might be more familiar with the medicines and tell us if there is an American version of what Kolumna needs. (Does that make sense?) Anyway, we're really hoping we can help out Eli's orphanage since Ilya's just received the grant!

Try to enjoy the rest of your day and know that many prayers are being lifted up for you, R & Eli. Good luck tomorrow!

Hugs,
Kar

Praying you can pick up Eli tomorrow. I know it must be so tough to be so close. Paperwork is such a necessary evil. Hoping for good news tomorrow.
